How to Make the Most of Your Spring Break

I know the thought of doing work over spring break is as terrible a thought as losing a game to UVA, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Some really popular options on how people spend spring break can be listed as: going home, going on a trip somewhere, and staying in Blacksburg twiddling your thumbs until school starts back up again. During my freshman year, I went back home and I found it to be a much needed break from the stress of school and the constant socializing (shoutout to all the introverts out there!). I didn’t do much over break except catch up on homework and meet with a couple friends, but I came back to school refreshed and reminded of my goals.

Sometimes you just need some time to remember why you’re in school and why you want to be doing what you’re doing. For me, this occurs over breaks when I have a lot of time to actually think. So if you’re like me and you choose to spend your break being productive, then here are some tips on how to fit everything in and be the biggest boss when you come back to campus on March 18th.

For one, if you need to do homework--do it! But don’t stress about it. You have an entire week to get stuff done, so don’t worry if you try to do an assignment and have to come back to it later. You have time. If you have tests after break, study a little bit each day, but don’t let it overwhelm you. Remember to schedule in an office hours trip if you have questions about the material, or shoot your professor an email. Schedule friend-dates with your friends from back home. They miss you and this is a surefire way to get your mind off of school for a little bit.

Don’t forget to relax and enjoy your time off wherever you choose to spend it. And overall, don’t let the week go by and realize you have five assignments to get done, two tests to study for, and an essay to write all on Sunday night.
